Hello!
Wow, it's been a crazy day! It's now about 4:30 PM, and we are sitting around deciding what to do for dinner. We woke up early today and headed out to DS #1 and DS #2 Orphanages. DS #2 is the newer orphanage--only about 19 kids live there now. We taught English there-- we went over the letters a, n, and p. The kids practiced writing the letters and we recited the Leap Frog song (" p . . . "pah" . . . every letter has a song . . .) about 500 times. We laugh about it now, but yeah, it was very funny. I might wake up tonight singing that little tune. :)
We headed over to DS #1 (the main orphanage) after DS #2. The kids were so fun. We taught the 3rd-4th grade class first. They were learning the Happy Birthday song and reading a little story about a kid going to a birthday party. I was in full teacher mode and asked comprehension questions galore. After a crazy game of bingo, we taught the 5th-6th grade class. They were typical kids--didn't really want to read their story or do any group activities. We played bingo with them and I asked questions. It was fun making them raise their hands before speaking! :)
After the 5th-6th grade class, my favorite class came in--the 1st and 2nd grade! Some of my favorite little rascals were in that class (remember the kid I called "Trouble"? Yup, he's one of my favorites!) Anyway, we read a story about a puppy and acted out "over, under, around," etc.
It was really fun! We were really nervous this morning because we didn't know what we were getting into, but God was with us! Oh, pray for Christy that she can sleep! She's been waking up in the night. Jet lag, you know. :)
Anyway, I think we are heading out to dinner---Italian tonight! YUM! Oh, after the lunch today at the orphanage --"mystery meatballs," noodles, and pork! It was ok, but I didn't eat the mystery meat! Christy was adventureous and said it was ok--tasted like fish. No thank you!
Thank you for all your prayers!
